Waters from under the Temple 1And he brought me back to the door of the temple, and behold, waters were flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the face of the temple is eastward), and the waters were flowing from under the side of the temple on the right, at the south of the altar. 2And he brought me out by way of the north gate, and he led me around the way on the outside to the outer gateway, the way facing east, and behold, waters were flowing on the right side. 3At the going out of the man to the east, and the line in his hand, he measured a thousand by the cubit;† and he brought me through the waters—waters to the ankles. 4And he measured a thousand, and he brought me through the waters—waters to the knees; and again he measured a thousand, and he brought me through waters to the loins. 5And he measured a thousand—a river that I was not able to cross; for the waters had risen—waters for swimming, a river that could not be crossed. 6And he said to me, “Have you seen, son of man?” And he brought me and returned me to the bank of the river. 7In my returning, behold, along the bank of the river were very many trees, on this side and on this side. 8And He said to me: “These waters are flowing toward the eastern border, and they go down upon the Arabah and enter the Sea;† and having gone out into the sea, its waters are healed.† 9And it will come to pass that every soul living that moves, at every place where the rivers should come there, will live. And there will be a great abundance of fish, because these waters come there, and they will be healed. And will live everything wherever the river comes there. 10And it will come to pass that fishermen will stand upon it. From En-gedi unto En-eglaim will be a spreading place of nets; their fish will be according to their kind as the fish of the Great Sea,† exceedingly many. 11And its swamps and marshes will still not be healed; they will be given to salt. 12And alongside the river will come up along the bank, on this side and on this side, every of tree for food; its leaf will not wither, and its fruit will not fail. According to its months it will bear fruit, because its waters, they are flowing from the sanctuary, and its fruit will be for food, and its leaf for healing.” The Borders of the Land 13Thus says the Lord YHWH: “These are the borders by which you⁺ shall divide as an inheritance the land among the twelve tribes of Israel. Joseph shall have portions,† 14and you⁺ shall divide it one with another, for I lifted up My hand to give it to your⁺ fathers, and this land will fall to you⁺ as an inheritance. 15And this is the border of the land on the side of the north, from the Great Sea, by the way of Hethlon, through Lebo-hamath to Zedad, 16Berothah, and Sibraim,† which is between the border of Damascus and between the border of Hamath; Hazar-Hatticon, which is on the border of Hauran. 17And will be the boundary from the Sea to Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus and to the north, to the north, and the border of Hamath. And this is the side to the north. 18And on the side of the east from between Hauran, and between Damascus, and between Gilead, and between the land of Israel, along the Jordan; from this border to the Eastern Sea† as far as Tamar.† And this is the side of the east. 19And the side of the Negev toward the south: From Tamar unto the waters of Meribah Kadesh, along the brook of Egypt† to the Great Sea. And this is the side of the Negev toward the south. 20And on the side of the west, the Great Sea, from the border until over against the coming in Hamath. This is the side of the west. 21And you⁺ shall divide this land among yourselves, according to the tribes of Israel. 22And it will come to pass that you⁺ will allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the sojourners that are dwelling among you⁺ who give birth to sons among you⁺, and they will be unto you⁺ as native-born among the sons of Israel; with you⁺ they shall be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel. 23And it will come to pass in the tribe with which the sojourner sojourns, that there you⁺ will give his inheritance,” a declaration of the Lord YHWH.
