Ephraim’s Inheritance

1And the lot for the sons of Joseph went out from the Jordan by Jericho to the waters of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goes up from Jericho in the hill country of Bethel, 2and it went out from Bethel, that is Luz,† and passed over to the border of the Archite at Ataroth, 3and went down westward to the border of the Japhletite, as far as the boundary of Lower Beth-Horon, and to Gezer, and it ended at the sea.†

4And the sons of Joseph—Manasseh and Ephraim—took their inheritance. 5And this was the border of the sons of Ephraim by their clans:

And the border of their inheritance on the east side was Ataroth-Addar as far as Upper Beth-horon, 6and the border went out toward the sea from Michmethath on the north side. And the border went around eastward toward Taanath-shiloh and passed over it on the east of Janoah. 7And it went down from Janoah to Ataroth and Naarah, and reached to Jericho, and came out at the Jordan. 8From Tappuah the border went out westward to the Brook of Kanah, and it ended at the sea.

This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim by their clans. 9And the separate cities were for the sons of Ephraim among the inheritance of the sons of Manasseh, all the cities and their villages. 10And they did not drive out the Canaanite dwelling in Gezer, and the Canaanite dwelt in the midst of Ephraim to this day, and he came to be for forced labor, serving.
