Purification after Childbirth

1And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 2“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘A woman, that conceives and bears a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days. As in the days of the uncleanness of her menstruation, she shall be unclean. 3And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

4And thirty days and three days she shall continue in the blood of her purification. She shall not touch any holy thing, and she shall not come into the sanctuary until the days of her purification are fulfilled.

5And if she bears a female child, then she shall be unclean two weeks like her menstruation, and sixty days and six days she shall continue in the blood of her purification.

6And in the fulfilling of the days of her purification, for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring near a lamb, a son of a year, for a burnt offering, and a son of a pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering, to the door of the Tent of Meeting, to the priest. 7And he shall bring it near before the face of YHWH, and he shall make atonement upon her, and she shall be clean from the flow of her blood. This is the law of the one giving birth, for the male or for the female.

8And if her hand is not able to bring a lamb, then she shall take two turtledoves or two sons of a pigeon,† one for a burnt offering and one for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement upon her, and she will be clean.’”
