The Resurrection 1Now after the Sabbaths, it being dawn toward the first of the Sabbaths,† Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord, having descended out of heaven and having come, rolled away the stone† and was sitting upon it. 3And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4And those keeping guard trembled from fear of him, and they became like dead men. 5And answering, the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you⁺ seek Jesus, the One having been crucified. 6He is not here, for He is risen, as He said! Come, see the place where He was lying.† 7And having gone quickly, say to His disciples, ‘He is risen from the dead, and behold, He goes before you⁺ into Galilee; there you⁺ will see Him.’ Behold, I have told you⁺.” 8And having gone out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to tell His disciples. 9And behold,† Jesus met them, saying, “Greetings!” And having come, they took hold of His feet and worshiped Him. 10Then Jesus says to them, “Do not be afraid. Go, tell My brothers, so that they should go into Galilee. And there they will see Me.” The Report of the Guards 11And in their going, behold, some of the guard, having gone into the city, reported to the chief priests all the things having come to pass. 12And having been gathered together with the elders and having taken counsel, they gave many pieces of silver to the soldiers, 13saying, “Say, ‘His disciples, having come by night, stole Him—we being asleep.’ 14And if this is heard by the governor, we will persuade him, and we will keep you⁺ out of trouble.” 15And having taken the pieces of silver, they did as they were instructed. And this report was spread abroad among the Jews until the present day. The Great Commission 16And the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus assigned them. 17And having seen Him, they worshiped; but some doubted. 18And having come near, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on the earth was given to Me. 19Therefore, having gone, disciple† all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all things, as much as I commanded you⁺. And behold, I am with you⁺ all the days, until the consummation of the age.†”
