Answer Me When I Call!

1For the one directing. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

1 In my calling out, may You answer me,

O God of my righteousness!

In my distress, You widened it for me;

show me favor and hear my prayer.

2O sons of men, until when will my glory be shame?

Will you⁺ love vanity, and seek after falsehood?

Selah

3and know that YHWH has marked out the faithful one for Himself;

YHWH hears in my calling to Him.

4Tremble and do not sin;

speak in your⁺ heart on your⁺ bed, and be silent.

Selah

5Sacrifice the sacrifices of righteousness,

and trust in YHWH.

6Many are saying, “Who will show us good?”

Lift upon us the light of Your face, O YHWH.

7You have put joy in my heart,

more than the time when their grain and their new wine have increased.

8In peace I will both lie down and will sleep,

for You alone, O YHWH, cause me to dwell in safety.

Footnotes:

4 Or In your anger do not sin or Tremble and do not sin; cited in Ephesians 4:26
