Thirsting for God
(2 Samuel 15:30–37)

1A Psalm of David, in his being in the wilderness of Judah.

1 O God, You are my God;

I seek after You—

my soul thirsts for You,

my flesh longs for You—

in a land dry and weary, without waters.

2So in the sanctuary I have seen You,

to behold Your power and Your glory.

3Because Your loving devotion is better than life,

my lips will praise You.

4So I will bless You in my life;

in Your name I will lift up my hands.

5As with milk and fatness, my soul is satisfied,

and with lips of joyful shouts, my mouth will praise You,

6when I remember You on my bed,

through the watches of the night I meditate on You.

7For You have been a help to me,

and in the shadow of Your wings I will shout for joy.

8My soul clings to You;

Your right hand has taken hold of me.

9And those who seek my soul for desolation,

they will go into the depths of the earth.

10They will fall by the hand of the sword;

they will become a portion for foxes.

11And the king will rejoice in God;

everyone swearing by Him will exult,

but the mouth of those speaking lies will be stopped up.
