God’s Enemies Are Scattered 1For the one directing. Of David. A Psalm. A Song. God 1 Arises, His enemies are scattered, and those hating Him flee before His face. 2As smoke is driven away, you will drive them away; like the melting of wax from the face of the fire, the wicked will perish before the face of God. 3And the righteous will be glad; they will exult before God, 4Sing to God, sing praises to His name! Lift up to the One riding on the clouds—† YAH is His name— 5A father of the fatherless, and a defender of widows, is God, in the habitation of His holiness. 6God causes the solitary to dwell in a home; He brings out the prisoners into prosperity, but the rebellious ones have dwelt in a scorched land. 7O God, in Your going forth before the face of Your people, in Your marching through the wilderness, 8the earth shook; also the heavens poured down before the face of God, the One of Sinai, before the face of God, the God of Israel. 9You showered rain of free-will gifts, O God; when Your inheritance was weary, You restored it. 10Your community dwelt in it; You provided for the poor from Your goodness, O God. 11The Lord gives speech, and those bearing news were a great army: 12“The kings of the armies—they flee, they flee! And she who dwells in the house divides the spoil! 13Though you⁺ lie down among the sheepfolds— the wings of the dove are covered with silver, and her pinions with yellow gold.” 14When Shaddai† scattered the kings in it, 15A mountain of God is Mount Bashan; a mountain of peaks is Mount Bashan! 16Why do you⁺ gaze in envy, O mountains of peaks? On the mountain where God desires to dwell, YHWH indeed will dwell forever. 17The chariots of God are myriads— thousands upon thousands! The Lord is among them on Sinai, in the sanctuary.† 18You have gone up to the height, You have led captive captivity; You have received gifts from man,† even from the rebellious ones, 19Blessed be the Lord, who day by day lifts us up— the God of our salvation! 20God is unto us a God of salvation, and from YHWH the Lord is our coming forth from death. 21Surely God will wound the head of His enemies, the hairy crown of the one walking in his guilt. 22The Lord said, “From Bashan I will bring them back; I will bring them back from the depths of the sea, 23so that you may plunge your foot in the blood, and the tongue of your dogs have its portion from your enemies!” 24They have seen Your going about, O God, the going about of my God and my King, in the sanctuary. 25Those singing go in front, and behind are those playing strings, and between are virgins playing timbrels. 26In the assemblies bless God, YHWH, from the fountain of Israel. 27There is little Benjamin leading them, with the princes of Judah in their company, the princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali. 28Summon, O God, your strength!† Make strong, O God, this which You have done for us. 29Your temple is upon Jerusalem— the kings shall bring a gift to You. 30Rebuke the creature of the reed, the herd of bulls with the calves of the nations— trample underfoot the desire for silver, scatter the nations delighting in war! 31Envoys will come from Egypt; Cush† will make its hands run to God. 32O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God; sing praises to the Lord— 33to the one riding on the heavens, the heavens of old! Behold, He gives forth with His voice, a voice of power. 34Ascribe strength to God, for His majesty is over Israel, 35You are fearsome, O God, in Your sanctuary; the God of Israel— He is giving power and strength to the people. Blessed be God!
