O God, Be Not Silent 1A song. A Psalm of Asaph. 1 O God, keep no silence to You; do not be silent,† 2For behold, Your enemies roar, and those hating You have lifted up the head. 3Against Your people, they act with cunning counsel, and they take counsel together against Your treasured ones. 4They say, “Come, and we shall make them disappear as a nation, and the name of Israel will not be remembered anymore.” 5For, they consulted together in heart; they cut an alliance against You— 6the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, 7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with those dwelling in Tyre. 8Assyria also has joined with them; they have become an arm for the sons of Lot. 9may You do to them as to Midian, as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the River Kishon. 10They perished at Endor; they became dung for the earth! 11Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb, and like Zebah, and like Zalmunna—all their princes— 12who said, “Let us possess for ourselves 13O my God, set them like the whirling dust, like chaff before the face of the wind! 14As the fire burns a forest, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire, 15so may You pursue them with Your tempest and terrify them with Your storm. 16Fill their faces with shame, and they shall seek Your name, O YHWH. 17Let them be put to shame and dismayed until forever, and may they be ashamed and perish! 18And they shall know that You— Your name is YHWH— You alone are Most High over all the earth!
