As the high priest doth bear me witness and all the ancients. From whom also receiving letters to the brethren, I went to Damascus, that I might bring them bound from thence to Jerusalem to be punished.
And I indeed did formerly think that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
But they said to him: We neither received letters concerning thee from Judea: neither did any of the brethren that came hither relate or speak any evil of thee.
Having their understanding darkened: being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their hearts.
