Good News Translation
Since it was the day before the Sabbath and because the tomb was close by, they placed Jesus' body there.

And so, because it was the Jewish day of Preparation, and the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

The tomb was nearby, and since it was the time to prepare for the Sabbath, they were in a hurry to put Jesus' body there.
