ContextPraise the LORD From the Heavens!
…6He hath established them for ever, and for ages of ages: he hath made a decree, and it shall not pass away. 7Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all ye deeps:8Fire, hail, snow, ice, stormy winds, which fulfil his word:…
And the earth was void and empty, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of God moved over the waters.
And God created the great whales, and every living and moving creature, which the waters brought forth, according to their kinds, and every winged fowl according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
To Joseph also he said: Of the blessing of the Lord be his land, of the fruits of heaven, and of the dew, and of the deep that lieth beneath.
Thou by thy strength didst make the sea firm: thou didst crush the heads of the dragons in the waters.
Give praise, O ye heavens, for the Lord hath shewn mercy: shout with joy, ye ends of the earth: ye mountains, resound with praise, thou, O forest, and every tree therein: for the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and Israel shall be glorified.
The mountains saw thee, and were grieved: the great body of waters passed away. The deep put forth its voice: the deep lifted up its hands.
