Wisdom 17:4
Good News Translation
Not even the dark corners where they lay could protect them from fear. They were surrounded by horrible noises; grim ghosts with gloomy faces appeared before their eyes.

And no power of fire was able to give light, nor did the brilliant flames of the stars avail to illumine that hateful night.
