13And Pilate, when he had summoned the chief priests and the rulers and the people, 14Said to them, “You have brought this Man to me, as one that subverts the people; and having examined Him in your presence, I have found no fault in this Man regarding those things that you accuse Him of; 15Nor has Herod; for as you can see, he sent Him back to me; and nothing worthy of death was done by Him. 16 Therefore, I will chastise (flog) Him, and then release Him. 17(For it was customary to release one prisoner to them at the Passover festival.) 18And they cried out all at once, saying, “Away with this Man, and release unto us Barabbas” 19(Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison). 20Pilate, therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke again to them. 21But the whole mob shouted, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” 22And he said a third time to them, “Why, what evil has He done? I have found no grounds for death in Him. I will therefore chastise Him, and let Him go.” 23But with loud shouts, they were insistent that He be crucified. And the voices of the mob and of the chief priests prevailed. 24And Pilate pronounced sentence that He should die as they demanded. 25And he released to them a man imprisoned for sedition and murder, as they had asked; but he surrendered Jesus to their will.

26And as the soldiers led Him away, they seized one Simon, a Cyrenian, on his way in from the country, and they laid the cross on him, and made him carry it behind Jesus. 27And a great number of people followed Him, including women, who bewailed and lamented Him. 28But Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. 29For the days are coming, in the which they shall say, “Blessed are the childless women, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts which never nursed. 30At that time, they will say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us’; and to the hills, ‘Cover us’. 31For if people do these things when a tree is green, what shall they do when it is dry?” 32And there were also two criminals led along with Him to be put to death. 33And when they had come to the place which is called Calvary (‘The Skull’), they crucified Him there, with the two criminals (thieves) - one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they are doing”. And they divided His clothing by casting lots. 35And the people stood watching. And the rulers even derided Him, sneering, “He saved others; let Him save Himself, if He is Christ, the chosen of God”. 36And the soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him vinegar, 37And saying, “If You are the king of the Jews, save Yourself”. 38And a sign was fastened above Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew, which read: “THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS”. 39And one of the thieves who hung there railed upon Him, saying, “If You are Christ, save Yourself and us”. 40But the other thief criticized him, saying, “Do not you fear God, even when have been sentenced to die? 41And we are being justly rewarded for our deeds. But this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42And then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom”. 43And Jesus said to him, “I truly tell you, ‘Today you shall be with Me in paradise’”. 44And it was about the sixth hour (noon), and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour (3PM). 45And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn down the middle. 46And when Jesus had called out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, into Your hands I commend My spirit”; and, having said this, He gave up the spirit (breathed His last). 47Now when the centurion saw what occurred, he glorified God, saying, “Certainly This was a righteous man”. 48And all the people that came to witness this, and saw the things which were done, beat their breasts, and went away.

49And all those who knew Him, and the women that followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance, observing these things. 50And there was a man named Joseph, a member of the council; but a good and righteous man, 51Who had not agreed with the council decisions and actions; he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, who was also looking for the kingdom of God to come. 52This man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. 53And he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulcher (tomb) that was hewn in (carved out of a) stone, in which no one had ever before been laid. 54And it was the day of the preparation, and the Sabbath was about to begin. 55And the women who had come with Jesus from Galilee, followed, and saw the tomb (sepulcher), and how His body was laid. 56And they went home and prepared spices and ointments; but rested on the Sabbath day in obedience to the commandment.
