CommentaryClarke's Commentary on the Bible
I say not unto you that I will pray the Father for you - I need not tell you that I will continue your intercessor: I have given you already so many proofs of my love that ye cannot possibly doubt this: besides, the Father himself needs no entreaty to do you good, for he loves you, and is graciously disposed to save you to the uttermost, because ye have loved me and believed in me as coming from God, for the salvation of the world.

Why Christ Speaks
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them, "Are you asking one another what I meant when I said, 'In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me'?
In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God."
