New International Version
After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He did not want to go about in Judea because the Jewish leaders there were looking for a way to kill him.
King James Bible
After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.
Darby Bible Translation
And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
World English Bible
After these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee, for he wouldn't walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

John 7:1 Parallel
CommentaryClarke's Commentary on the Bible
After these things - St. John passes from the preceding discourse of our Lord, which he delivered a little before the passover, John 6:4, to the Feast of Tabernacles, which happened six months after, and thus omits many things mentioned by the other evangelists, which our blessed Lord said and did during that time. He had already gone over Galilee four or five times; and he continued there, because he found that the hatred of the Jews was such that they would kill him if they could meet with him in Judea; and his time to suffer was not yet come.
For he would not walk in Jewry - Instead of this, some MSS., versions, and fathers read, ουγαρ ειχεν εξουσιαν, he had not authority, or liberty to walk, etc. That is, he was no longer tolerated, and could not preach publicly in Judea, but at the risk of his life. He found greater scope for the exercise of his important ministry in Galilee than in Judea, as the chief priests, etc., were continually plotting his death.

If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.--JOHN 7:37. Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; …

The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.
Now this was John's testimony when the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was.
So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee.
For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias),
Now at the festival the Jewish leaders were watching for Jesus and asking, "Where is he?"
But no one would say anything publicly about him for fear of the leaders.
