People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy.

For even man knoweth not his time; as fish that are taken hold of by an evil net, and as birds that are taken hold of by a snare, like these are the sons of man snared at an evil time, when it falleth upon them suddenly.

Evil people are trapped by sin, but the righteous escape, shouting for joy.
For people and animals share the same fate--both breathe and both must die. So people have no real advantage over the animals. How meaningless!
Indeed, how can people avoid what they don't know is going to happen?
