12:37 About six hundred thousand men - The word means strong and able men fit for wars, beside women and children, which we cannot suppose to make less than twelve hundred thousand more. What a vast increase was this to arise from seventy souls, in little more than two hundred years.

So Joseph assigned the best land of Egypt--the region of Rameses--to his father and his brothers, and he settled them there, just as Pharaoh had commanded.
Moses replied, "We will all go--young and old, our sons and daughters, and our flocks and herds. We must all join together in celebrating a festival to the LORD."
The Israelites left Succoth and camped at Etham on the edge of the wilderness.
This silver came from the tax collected from each man registered in the census. (The tax is one beka, which is half a shekel, based on the sanctuary shekel.) The tax was collected from 603,550 men who had reached their twentieth birthday.
