The Holiness of God
For our God is a devouring fire.
So as the sun began to rise, Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the water rushed back into its usual place. The Egyptians tried to escape, but the LORD swept them into the sea.
The LORD your God is a devouring fire; he is a jealous God.
He loosed on them his fierce anger--all his fury, rage, and hostility. He dispatched against them a band of destroying angels.
He turned his anger against them; he did not spare the Egyptians' lives but ravaged them with the plague.
Therefore, just as fire licks up stubble and dry grass shrivels in the flame, so their roots will rot and their flowers wither. For they have rejected the law of the LORD of Heaven's Armies; they have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
