CommentaryWesley's Notes on the Bible
22:14 And Abraham called the place Jehovah - jireh - The Lord will provide. Probably alluding to what he had said, Ge 22:8. God will provide himself a lamb - This was purely the Lord's doing: let it be recorded for the generations to come; that the Lord will see; he will always have his eyes upon his people in their straits, that he may come in with seasonable succour in the critical juncture. Hope for the Heathen
"God will provide a sheep for the burnt offering, my son," Abraham answered. And they both walked on together.

Moses built an altar there and named it Yahweh-nissi (which means "the LORD is my banner").
