41:9 Thou - Thou Israel, whom I took to myself, and brought hither in the loins of thy father Abraham, from a remote country. Called thee - From the midst of many great persons among whom he lived in Chaldea. Chosen - I have chosen thee and thy seed through all generations.
What a precious promise to the young Christian, or to the old Christian attacked by lowness of spirits and distress of mind! The Fulfilled Prophecies of the Bible Bespeak the Omniscience of Its Author
For you are a holy people, who belong to the LORD your God. Of all the people on earth, the LORD your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.
You have been set apart as holy to the LORD your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure.
For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel for his own special treasure.
In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to bring back the remnant of his people--those who remain in Assyria and northern Egypt; in southern Egypt, Ethiopia, and Elam; in Babylonia, Hamath, and all the distant coastlands.
But the LORD will have mercy on the descendants of Jacob. He will choose Israel as his special people once again. He will bring them back to settle once again in their own land. And people from many different nations will come and join them there and unite with the people of Israel.
"Look at my servant, whom I strengthen. He is my chosen one, who pleases me. I have put my Spirit upon him. He will bring justice to the nations.
"Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will gather you and your children from east and west.
