"To what Purpose is the Multitude of Your Sacrifices unto Me? Saith the Lord,"
For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. The wages you held back cry out against you. The cries of those who harvest your fields have reached the ears of the LORD of Heaven's Armies.
"Do not defraud or rob your neighbor. "Do not make your hired workers wait until the next day to receive their pay.
You must pay them their wages each day before sunset because they are poor and are counting on it. If you don't, they might cry out to the LORD against you, and it would be counted against you as sin.

Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.
What sorrow for you who buy up house after house and field after field, until everyone is evicted and you live alone in the land.
Like a partridge that hatches eggs she has not laid, so are those who get their wealth by unjust means. At midlife they will lose their riches; in the end, they will become poor old fools.
