But the LORD said to Moses, "If her father had done nothing more than spit in her face, wouldn't she be defiled for seven days? So keep her outside the camp for seven days, and after that she may be accepted back."
Yet my friends laugh at me, for I call on God and expect an answer. I am a just and blameless man, yet they laugh at me.
I am surrounded by mockers. I watch how bitterly they taunt me.
"And now they mock me with vulgar songs! They taunt me!
They despise me and won't come near me, except to spit in my face.
You have made us the butt of their jokes; they shake their heads at us in scorn.
When I dress in burlap to show sorrow, they make fun of me.
