When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. "Don't cry!" he said.
and he sent them to the Lord to ask him, "Are you the Messiah we've been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?"
Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them.
So the two sisters sent a message to Jesus telling him, "Lord, your dear friend is very sick."
Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.
When Mary arrived and saw Jesus, she fell at his feet and said, "Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died."
Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus' feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance.
