Joseph of Arimathea
"Himself He could not Save. " --Mark xv. 31
Whether Christ was Buried in a Becoming Manner?
As evening approached, Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea who had become a follower of Jesus,
Pilate couldn't believe that Jesus was already dead, so he called for the Roman officer and asked if he had died yet.
At that time there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon. He was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon him
She came along just as Simeon was talking with Mary and Joseph, and she began praising God. She talked about the child to everyone who had been waiting expectantly for God to rescue Jerusalem.
Now there was a good and righteous man named Joseph. He was a member of the Jewish high council,
but he had not agreed with the decision and actions of the other religious leaders. He was from the town of Arimathea in Judea, and he was waiting for the Kingdom of God to come.
Afterward Joseph of Arimathea, who had been a secret disciple of Jesus (because he feared the Jewish leaders), asked Pilate for permission to take down Jesus' body. When Pilate gave permission, Joseph came and took the body away.
