The Baptism of Jesus: Its Higher Meaning.
But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
The strongest among you will disappear like straw; their evil deeds will be the spark that sets it on fire. They and their evil works will burn up together, and no one will be able to put out the fire.
My anger will be gone. If I find briers and thorns growing, I will attack them; I will burn them up--
The oxen and donkeys that till the ground will eat good grain, its chaff blown away by the wind.
You will toss them into the air, and the wind will blow them all away; a whirlwind will scatter them. Then you will rejoice in the LORD. You will glory in the Holy One of Israel.
And as they go out, they will see the dead bodies of those who have rebelled against me. For the worms that devour them will never die, and the fire that burns them will never go out. All who pass by will view them with utter horror."
So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "I will pour out my terrible fury on this place. Its people, animals, trees, and crops will be consumed by the unquenchable fire of my anger."
