New Living Translation
"Don't say such things," the people respond. "Don't prophesy like that. Such disasters will never come our way!"
King James Bible
Prophesy ye not, say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.
Darby Bible Translation
Prophesy ye not, they prophesy. If they do not prophesy to these, the ignominy will not depart.
World English Bible

John Edgar McFadyen—Introduction to the Old Testament
For the LORD has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep. He has closed the eyes of your prophets and visionaries.
They tell the seers, "Stop seeing visions!" They tell the prophets, "Don't tell us what is right. Tell us nice things. Tell us lies.
"But you caused the Nazirites to sin by making them drink wine, and you commanded the prophets, 'Shut up!'
Now then, listen to this message from the LORD: "You say, 'Don't prophesy against Israel. Stop preaching against my people.'
Now the night will close around you, cutting off all your visions. Darkness will cover you, putting an end to your predictions. The sun will set for you prophets, and your day will come to an end.
You keep only the laws of evil King Omri; you follow only the example of wicked King Ahab! Therefore, I will make an example of you, bringing you to complete ruin. You will be treated with contempt, mocked by all who see you."
