By the power of your hand, O LORD, destroy those who look to this world for their reward. But satisfy the hunger of your treasured ones. May their children have plenty, leaving an inheritance for their descendants.

17:14 Thy hand - Wherewith thou dost correct me. World - Who set their hearts upon this world, and neither have, nor desire any other portion. Belly - Mind or appetite, as that word is used, Job 20:20. Prov 20:30. Treasure - With extraordinary wealth and glory. Children - When many of thy faithful servants are barren, these are blessed with a numerous posterity.

An Exhortation to Love God
"But Abraham said to him, 'Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish.
They live to see their children grow up and settle down, and they enjoy their grandchildren.
Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. By your mighty power you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies.
They trust in their wealth and boast of great riches.
For when they die, they take nothing with them. Their wealth will not follow them into the grave.
For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.
God gives some people great wealth and honor and everything they could ever want, but then he doesn't give them the chance to enjoy these things. They die, and someone else, even a stranger, ends up enjoying their wealth! This is meaningless--a sickening tragedy.
