For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be sung to the tune "Doe of the Dawn." My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away when I groan for help?
I am dying from grief; my years are shortened by sadness. Sin has drained my strength; I am wasting away from within.
I am exhausted and completely crushed. My groans come from an anguished heart.
But as I stood there in silence--not even speaking of good things--the turmoil within me grew worse.
The more I thought about it, the hotter I got, igniting a fire of words:
People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.
