Berean Study BibleEnglish Standard Version
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,1Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.2Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;3Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
perseverance, character; and character, hope.4and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.5and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.6For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.7For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—
But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.8but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him!9Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!10For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
Not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.11More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned.12Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
For sin was in the world before the law was given; but sin is not taken into account when there is no law.13for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law.
Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the way that Adam transgressed. He is a pattern of the One to come.14Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many!15But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.
Again, the gift is not like the result of the one man’s sin: The judgment that followed one sin brought condemnation, but the gift that followed many trespasses brought justification.16And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification.
For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive an abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!17For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
So then, just as one trespass brought condemnation for all men, so also one act of righteousness brought justification and life for all men.18Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.
For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.19For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.
The law came in so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more,20Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.21so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
