For the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; their acts are vile. There is no one who does good.1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
The LORD looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if any understand, if any seek God.2The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.3They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Will the workers of iniquity never learn? They devour my people like bread; they refuse to call upon the LORD.4Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is in the company of the righteous.5There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.
You sinners frustrate the plans of the oppressed, yet the LORD is their shelter.6Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.
Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion! When the LORD restores His captive people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad!7Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
