| 1Then Bildad the Shuhite replied: | 1Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said: |
| 2Dominion and dread belong to him, the one who establishes harmony in his heights. | 2“Dominion and fear are with God; he makes peace in his high heaven. |
| 3Can his troops be numbered? Does his light not shine on everyone? | 3Is there any number to his armies? Upon whom does his light not arise? |
| 4How can a human be justified before God? How can one born of woman be pure? | 4How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure? |
| 5If even the moon does not shine and the stars are not pure in his sight, | 5Behold, even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure in his eyes; |
| 6how much less a human, who is a maggot, a son of man, who is a worm! | 6how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm!” |
