Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:1Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said:
Dominion and dread belong to him, the one who establishes harmony in his heights.2“Dominion and fear are with God; he makes peace in his high heaven.
Can his troops be numbered? Does his light not shine on everyone?3Is there any number to his armies? Upon whom does his light not arise?
How can a human be justified before God? How can one born of woman be pure?4How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure?
If even the moon does not shine and the stars are not pure in his sight,5Behold, even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure in his eyes;
how much less a human, who is a maggot, a son of man, who is a worm!6how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm!”
