Psalm 116
CSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
I love the LORD because he has heard my appeal for mercy.1I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy.
Because he has turned his ear to me, I will call out to him as long as I live.2Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
The ropes of death were wrapped around me, and the torments of Sheol overcame me; I encountered trouble and sorrow.3The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish.
Then I called on the name of the LORD: "LORD, save me!"4Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, I pray, deliver my soul!”
The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is compassionate.5Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful.
The LORD guards the inexperienced; I was helpless, and he saved me.6The LORD preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.7Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.
For you, LORD, rescued me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.8For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling;
I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.9I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
I believed, even when I said, "I am severely oppressed."10I believed, even when I spoke: “I am greatly afflicted”;
In my alarm I said, "Everyone is a liar."11I said in my alarm, “All mankind are liars.”
How can I repay the LORD for all the good he has done for me?12What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me?
I will take the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.13I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD,
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.14I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.
The death of his faithful ones is valuable in the LORD's sight.15Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
LORD, I am indeed your servant; I am your servant, the son of your female servant. You have loosened my bonds.16O LORD, I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant. You have loosed my bonds.
I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.17I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,18I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,
in the courts of the LORD's house--within you, Jerusalem. Hallelujah!19in the courts of the house of the LORD, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
