Christian Standard BibleNET Bible
Hallelujah! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful.1Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song! Praise him in the assembly of the godly!
Let Israel celebrate its Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.2Let Israel rejoice in their Creator! Let the people of Zion delight in their king!
Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and lyre.3Let them praise his name with dancing! Let them sing praises to him to the accompaniment of the tambourine and harp!
For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation.4For the LORD takes delight in his people; he exalts the oppressed by delivering them.
Let the faithful celebrate in triumphal glory; let them shout for joy on their beds.5Let the godly rejoice because of their vindication! Let them shout for joy upon their beds!
Let the exaltation of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands,6May they praise God while they hold a two-edged sword in their hand,
inflicting vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,7in order to take revenge on the nations, and punish foreigners.
binding their kings with chains and their dignitaries with iron shackles,8They bind their kings in chains, and their nobles in iron shackles,
carrying out the judgment decreed against them. This honor is for all his faithful people. Hallelujah!9and execute the judgment to which their enemies have been sentenced. All his loyal followers will be vindicated. Praise the LORD!
