| 1A Davidic psalm. LORD, hear my prayer. In Your faithfulness listen to my plea, and in Your righteousness answer me. | 1A psalm of David. O LORD, hear my prayer! Pay attention to my plea for help! Because of your faithfulness and justice, answer me! |
| 2Do not bring Your servant into judgment, for no one alive is righteous in Your sight. | 2Do not sit in judgment on your servant, for no one alive is innocent before you. |
| 3For the enemy has pursued me, crushing me to the ground, making me live in darkness like those long dead. | 3Certainly my enemies chase me. They smash me into the ground. They force me to live in dark regions, like those who have been dead for ages. |
| 4My spirit is weak within me; my heart is overcome with dismay. | 4My strength leaves me; I am absolutely shocked. |
| 5I remember the days of old; I meditate on all You have done; I reflect on the work of Your hands. | 5I recall the old days; I meditate on all you have done; I reflect on your accomplishments. |
| 6I spread out my hands to You; I am like parched land before You. Selah | 6I spread my hands out to you in prayer; my soul thirsts for you in a parched land. |
