International Standard VersionHolman Christian Standard Bible
Hallelujah! Sing a new song to the LORD, praising him where the godly gather together.1Hallelujah! Sing to the LORD a new song, His praise in the assembly of the godly.
May Israel rejoice in its Maker, and Zion's descendants in their King!2Let Israel celebrate its Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.
May they praise his name with dancing, chanting songs to him with tambourines and lyres.3Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with tambourine and lyre.
For the LORD is pleased with his people; he beautifies the afflicted with salvation.4For Yahweh takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the humble with salvation.
May those he loves be exalted, singing for joy on their couches.5Let the godly celebrate in triumphal glory; let them shout for joy on their beds.
Let high praises to God be heard in their throats, while they wield two-edged swords in their hands6Let the exaltation of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands,
as they bring retribution to nations and punishment to peoples,7inflicting vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,
binding their kings with chains, their officials with iron bands,8binding their kings with chains and their dignitaries with iron shackles,
and executing the judgment written against them. This is honor for all the ones he loves. Hallelujah!9carrying out the judgment decreed against them. This honor is for all His godly people. Hallelujah!
