Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus the Messiah.1Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace by which we have been established, and we boast because of our hope in God's glory. 2We have also obtained access through Him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
Not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 3And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance,
endurance produces character, and character produces hope. 4endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope.
Now this hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.5This hope will not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, the Messiah died for the ungodly. 6For while we were still helpless, at the appointed moment, Christ died for the ungodly.
For it is rare for anyone to die for a righteous person, though somebody might be brave enough to die for a good person. 7For rarely will someone die for a just person--though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die.
But God demonstrates his love for us by the fact that the Messiah died for us while we were still sinners.8But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!
Now that we have been justified by his blood, how much more will we be saved from wrath through him! 9Much more then, since we have now been declared righteous by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath.
For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life! 10For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life!
Not only that, but we also continue to boast about God through our Lord Jesus the Messiah, through whom we have now been reconciled.11And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have now received this reconciliation through Him.
Just as sin entered the world through one man, and death resulted from sin, therefore everyone dies, because everyone has sinned. 12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because all sinned.
Certainly sin was in the world before the Law was given, but no record of sin is kept when there is no Law. 13In fact, sin was in the world before the law, but sin is not charged to a person's account when there is no law.
Nevertheless, death ruled from the time of Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the same way Adam did when he disobeyed. He is a foreshadowing of the one who would come.14Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the likeness of Adam's transgression. He is a prototype of the Coming One.
But God's free gift is not like Adam's offense. For if many people died as the result of one man's offense, how much more have God's grace and the free gift given through the kindness of one man, Jesus the Messiah, been showered on many people! 15But the gift is not like the trespass. For if by the one man's trespass the many died, how much more have the grace of God and the gift overflowed to the many by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ.
Nor can the free gift be compared to what came through the man who sinned. For the sentence that followed one man's offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift brought justification, even after many offenses. 16And the gift is not like the one man's sin, because from one sin came the judgment, resulting in condemnation, but from many trespasses came the gift, resulting in justification.
For if, through one man, death ruled because of that man's offense, how much more will those who receive such overflowing grace and the gift of righteousness rule in life because of one man, Jesus the Messiah! 17Since by the one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive the overflow of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
Consequently, just as one offense resulted in condemnation for everyone, so one act of righteousness results in justification and life for everyone. 18So then, as through one trespass there is condemnation for everyone, so also through one righteous act there is life-giving justification for everyone.
For just as through one man's disobedience many people were made sinners, so also through one man's obedience many people will be made righteous. 19For just as through one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so also through the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.
Now the Law crept in so that the offense would increase. But where sin increased, grace increased even more, 20The law came along to multiply the trespass. But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even more
so that, just as sin ruled by bringing death, so also grace might rule by bringing justification that results in eternal life through Jesus the Messiah, our Lord.21so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
