Corinthians 6
ISV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
International Standard VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
When one of you has a complaint against another, does he dare to take the matter before those who are unrighteous and not before the saints? 1Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints?
You know that the saints will rule the world, don't you? And if the world is going to be ruled by you, can't you handle insignificant cases? 2Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts?
You know that we will rule angels, not to mention things in this life, don't you? 3Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?
So if you have cases dealing with this life, why do you appoint as judges people who have no standing in the church? 4So if you have law courts dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church?
I say this to make you feel ashamed. Has it come to this, that there is not one person among you who is wise enough to settle disagreements between brothers?5I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not among you one wise man who will be able to decide between his brethren,
Instead, one brother goes to court against another brother, and before unbelieving judges, at that! 6but brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers?
The very fact that you have lawsuits among yourselves is already a defeat for you. Why not rather just accept the wrong? Why not rather be cheated? 7Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?
Instead, you yourselves practice doing wrong and cheating others, and brothers at that!8On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud. You do this even to your brethren.
You know that wicked people will not inherit the kingdom of God, don't you? Stop deceiving yourselves! Sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, 9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
thieves, greedy people, drunks, slanderers, and robbers will not inherit the kingdom of God. 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
That is what some of you were! But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of our Lord Jesus the Messiah and by the Spirit of our God.11Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is helpful. Everything is permissible for me, but I will not allow anything to control me. 12All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.
Food is for the stomach, and the stomach is for food, but God will make them both unnecessary. The body is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 13Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.
God raised the Lord, and by his power he will also raise us.14Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power.
You know that your bodies belong to the Messiah, don't you? Should I take what belongs to the Messiah and unite them with a prostitute? Certainly not! 15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be!
You know that the person who unites himself with a prostitute becomes one body with her, don't you? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh."16Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, "THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH."
But the person who unites himself with the Lord becomes one spirit with him.17But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
Keep on running away from sexual immorality. Any other sin that a person commits is outside his body, but the person who sins sexually sins against his own body. 18Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.
You know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God, don't you? You do not belong to yourselves, 19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
because you were bought for a price. Therefore, glorify God with your bodies.20For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
