| 2Examine me, LORD, and inspect me! Test my heart and mind. | 2Examine me, O LORD, and test me! Evaluate my inner thoughts and motives! |
| 3For your gracious love precedes me, and I continuously walk according to your truth. | 3For I am ever aware of your faithfulness, and your loyalty continually motivates me. |
| 4I do not sit with those committed to what is false, nor do I travel with hypocrites. | 4I do not associate with deceitful men, or consort with those who are dishonest. |
| 5I hate the company of those who practice evil, nor do I sit with the wicked. | 5I hate the mob of evil men, and do not associate with the wicked. |
| 6I wash my hands innocently. I go around your altar, LORD, | 6I maintain a pure lifestyle, so I can appear before your altar, O LORD, |
| 7so I may praise you loudly with thanksgiving and declare all your wondrous acts. | 7to give you thanks, and to tell about all your amazing deeds. |
| 8LORD, I love the dwelling place that is your house, the place where your glory resides. | 8O LORD, I love the temple where you live, the place where your splendor is revealed. |
| 9Do not group me with sinners, nor include me with men who shed blood. | 9Do not sweep me away with sinners, or execute me along with violent people, |
| 10Their hands are filled with wicked schemes, and their right hands with bribes. | 10who are always ready to do wrong or offer a bribe. |
| 11But as for me, I walk in my integrity. Redeem me and be gracious to me! | 11But I have integrity! Rescue me and have mercy on me! |
| 12My feet stand on level ground; among the worshiping congregations I will bless the LORD. | 12I am safe, and among the worshipers I will praise the LORD. |
