| 1LORD, I call to you, be quick to listen to me when I cry out! | 1O LORD, I am calling to you. Please hurry! Listen when I cry to you for help! |
| 2Let my prayer be like incense offered before you, and my uplifted hands like the evening sacrifice. | 2Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering. |
| 3LORD, set a guard over my mouth; keep watch over the door to my lips. | 3Take control of what I say, O LORD, and guard my lips. |
| 4Don't let my heart turn toward evil or involve itself in wicked activities with men who practice iniquity. Let me not feast on their delicacies. | 4Don’t let me drift toward evil or take part in acts of wickedness. Don’t let me share in the delicacies of those who do wrong. |
| 5Let one who is righteous strike me; It is an act of gracious love. Let him rebuke me, because it is oil for my head; do not let my head refuse it. My prayers continuously will be against their wicked activities. | 5Let the godly strike me! It will be a kindness! If they correct me, it is soothing medicine. Don’t let me refuse it. But I pray constantly against the wicked and their deeds. |
| 6When their judges are thrown off the cliff, the people will hear my words, for they are appropriate. | 6When their leaders are thrown down from a cliff, the wicked will listen to my words and find them true. |
| 7Just as one plows and breaks up the earth, our bones are scattered near the entrance to the place of the dead. | 7Like rocks brought up by a plow, the bones of the wicked will lie scattered without burial. |
| 8Nevertheless, my eyes are on you, Lord GOD, as I seek protection in you. Don't leave me defenseless! | 8I look to you for help, O Sovereign LORD. You are my refuge; don’t let them kill me. |
| 9Protect me from the trap laid for me and from the snares of those who practice evil. | 9Keep me from the traps they have set for me, from the snares of those who do wrong. |
| 10Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I come through. | 10Let the wicked fall into their own nets, but let me escape. |
