Psalm 51
ISV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew Living Translation
Have mercy, God, according to your gracious love, according to your unlimited compassion, erase my transgressions.1Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins.
Wash me from my iniquity, cleanse me from my sin.2Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin.
For I acknowledge my transgression; my sin remains continuously before me.3For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night.
Against you, you only, have I sinned, and done what was evil in your sight. As a result, you are just in your pronouncement and clear in your judgment.4Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just.
Indeed, in iniquity I was brought forth; in sin my mother conceived me.5For I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.
Indeed, you are pleased with truth in the inner person, and you will teach me wisdom in my innermost parts.6But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there.
Purge me with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.7Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me know joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice.8Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— now let me rejoice.
Hide your countenance from my sins and erase the record of my iniquities.9Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt.
God, create a pure heart in me, and renew a right attitude within me.10Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence; do not take your Holy Spirit from me.11Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and let a willing attitude control me.12Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.
Then I will teach transgressors about your ways, and sinners will turn to you.13Then I will teach your ways to rebels, and they will return to you.
Deliver me from the guilt of shedding blood, God, God of my salvation. Then my tongue will sing about your righteousness.14Forgive me for shedding blood, O God who saves; then I will joyfully sing of your forgiveness.
Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.15Unseal my lips, O Lord, that my mouth may praise you.
Indeed, you do not delight in sacrifices, or I would give them, nor do you desire burnt offerings.16You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering.
True sacrifice to God is a broken spirit. A broken and chastened heart, God, you will not despise.17The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
Show favor to Zion in your good pleasure; and rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.18Look with favor on Zion and help her; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
Then you will be pleased with right sacrifices, with burnt offerings, and with whole burnt offerings. Then they will offer bulls on your altar.19Then you will be pleased with sacrifices offered in the right spirit— with burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings. Then bulls will again be sacrificed on your altar.
