King James BibleNET Bible
To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm of David. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.1For the music director, to be accompanied by stringed instruments; a psalm of David. When I call out, answer me, O God who vindicates me! Though I am hemmed in, you will lead me into a wide, open place. Have mercy on me and respond to my prayer!
O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.2You men, how long will you try to turn my honor into shame? How long will you love what is worthless and search for what is deceptive? (Selah)
But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.3Realize that the LORD shows the godly special favor; the LORD responds when I cry out to him.
Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.4Tremble with fear and do not sin! Meditate as you lie in bed, and repent of your ways! (Selah)
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.5Offer the prescribed sacrifices and trust in the LORD!
There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.6Many say, "Who can show us anything good?" Smile upon us, LORD!
Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.7You make me happier than those who have abundant grain and wine.
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.8I will lie down and sleep peacefully, for you, LORD, make me safe and secure.
