Romans 5
NASB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New American Standard Bible 1995English Standard Version
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,1Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.2Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance;3Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope;4and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,
and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.5and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.6For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.7For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.8but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.9Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.10For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.11More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned--12Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.13for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law.
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.14Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.
But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.15But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.
The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification.16And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification.
For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.17For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.18Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.
For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.19For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.
The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,20Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.21so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
