Psalm 57
New American Standard Bible 1995International Standard Version
For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Mikhtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave. Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction passes by.1Have mercy on me, God, have mercy, for in you I have placed my trust. Even in the shadow of your wings will I find my refuge until this calamity passes.
I will cry to God Most High, To God who accomplishes all things for me.2I call upon the God Most High; to the God who completes what he began in me.
He will send from heaven and save me; He reproaches him who tramples upon me. Selah. God will send forth His lovingkindness and His truth.3He will send help from heaven to deliver me from those who harass and despise me. Interlude God will send his gracious love and truth.
My soul is among lions; I must lie among those who breathe forth fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows And their tongue a sharp sword.4I am surrounded by lions. I lie down with those who burn with fire— that is, with people whose teeth are like spears and arrows— whose tongues are like sharp swords.
Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth.5Be exalted above the heavens, God! May your glory cover the earth!
They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They dug a pit before me; They themselves have fallen into the midst of it. Selah.6They have set a snare for my feet, which makes me depressed. They dug a pit in front of me, but they are the ones who fell into it! Interlude
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!7My heart is committed, God, my heart is committed, so I will sing and play music.
Awake, my glory! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.8Wake up, my soul, wake up, lyre and harp! I will awaken at dawn.
I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations.9I will exalt you among the peoples, Lord. I will play music among the nations.
For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens And Your truth to the clouds.10For your gracious love is great, extending even to the heavens, and your truth even to the skies.
Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth.11Be exalted above the heavens, God! May your glory cover the earth!
