Job 26
NASB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995New Living Translation
Then Job responded,1Then Job spoke again:
"What a help you are to the weak! How you have saved the arm without strength!2“How you have helped the powerless! How you have saved the weak!
"What counsel you have given to one without wisdom! What helpful insight you have abundantly provided!3How you have enlightened my stupidity! What wise advice you have offered!
"To whom have you uttered words? And whose spirit was expressed through you?4Where have you gotten all these wise sayings? Whose spirit speaks through you?
"The departed spirits tremble Under the waters and their inhabitants.5“The dead tremble— those who live beneath the waters.
"Naked is Sheol before Him, And Abaddon has no covering.6The underworld is naked in God’s presence. The place of destruction is uncovered.
"He stretches out the north over empty space And hangs the earth on nothing.7God stretches the northern sky over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing.
"He wraps up the waters in His clouds, And the cloud does not burst under them.8He wraps the rain in his thick clouds, and the clouds don’t burst with the weight.
"He obscures the face of the full moon And spreads His cloud over it.9He covers the face of the moon, shrouding it with his clouds.
"He has inscribed a circle on the surface of the waters At the boundary of light and darkness.10He created the horizon when he separated the waters; he set the boundary between day and night.
"The pillars of heaven tremble And are amazed at His rebuke.11The foundations of heaven tremble; they shudder at his rebuke.
"He quieted the sea with His power, And by His understanding He shattered Rahab.12By his power the sea grew calm. By his skill he crushed the great sea monster.
"By His breath the heavens are cleared; His hand has pierced the fleeing serpent.13His Spirit made the heavens beautiful, and his power pierced the gliding serpent.
"Behold, these are the fringes of His ways; And how faint a word we hear of Him! But His mighty thunder, who can understand?"14These are just the beginning of all that he does, merely a whisper of his power. Who, then, can comprehend the thunder of his power?”
