| 2His descendants will be powerful on the earth; the godly will be blessed. | 2His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. |
| 3His house contains wealth and riches; his integrity endures. | 3Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. |
| 4In the darkness a light shines for the godly, for each one who is merciful, compassionate, and just. | 4Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous. |
| 5It goes well for the one who generously lends money, and conducts his business honestly. | 5It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice. |
