| 1Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song! Praise him in the assembly of the godly! | 1Hallelujah! Sing a new song to the LORD, praising him where the godly gather together. |
| 2Let Israel rejoice in their Creator! Let the people of Zion delight in their king! | 2May Israel rejoice in its Maker, and Zion's descendants in their King! |
| 3Let them praise his name with dancing! Let them sing praises to him to the accompaniment of the tambourine and harp! | 3May they praise his name with dancing, chanting songs to him with tambourines and lyres. |
| 4For the LORD takes delight in his people; he exalts the oppressed by delivering them. | 4For the LORD is pleased with his people; he beautifies the afflicted with salvation. |
| 5Let the godly rejoice because of their vindication! Let them shout for joy upon their beds! | 5May those he loves be exalted, singing for joy on their couches. |
| 6May they praise God while they hold a two-edged sword in their hand, | 6Let high praises to God be heard in their throats, while they wield two-edged swords in their hands |
| 7in order to take revenge on the nations, and punish foreigners. | 7as they bring retribution to nations and punishment to peoples, |
| 8They bind their kings in chains, and their nobles in iron shackles, | 8binding their kings with chains, their officials with iron bands, |
| 9and execute the judgment to which their enemies have been sentenced. All his loyal followers will be vindicated. Praise the LORD! | 9and executing the judgment written against them. This is honor for all the ones he loves. Hallelujah! |
