So these three men refused to answer Job further, because he was righteous in his own eyes.1Then these three men ceased answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
Then Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became very angry. He was angry with Job for justifying himself rather than God.2But the anger of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram burned; against Job his anger burned because he justified himself before God.
With Job's three friends he was also angry, because they could not find an answer, and so declared Job guilty.3And his anger burned against his three friends because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
Now Elihu had waited before speaking to Job, because the others were older than he was.4Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job because they were years older than he.
But when Elihu saw that the three men had no further reply, he became very angry. 5And when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men his anger burned.
So Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite spoke up: "I am young, but you are elderly; that is why I was fearful, and afraid to explain to you what I know. 6So Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite spoke out and said, "I am young in years and you are old; Therefore I was shy and afraid to tell you what I think.
I said to myself, 'Age should speak, and length of years should make wisdom known.' 7"I thought age should speak, And increased years should teach wisdom.
But it is a spirit in people, the breath of the Almighty, that makes them understand. 8"But it is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.
It is not the aged who are wise, nor old men who understand what is right. 9"The abundant in years may not be wise, Nor may elders understand justice.
Therefore I say, 'Listen to me. I, even I, will explain what I know.' 10"So I say, 'Listen to me, I too will tell what I think.'
Look, I waited for you to speak; I listened closely to your wise thoughts, while you were searching for words. 11"Behold, I waited for your words, I listened to your reasonings, While you pondered what to say.
Now I was paying you close attention, yet there was no one proving Job wrong, not one of you was answering his statements! 12"I even paid close attention to you; Indeed, there was no one who refuted Job, Not one of you who answered his words.
So do not say, 'We have found wisdom! God will refute him, not man!' 13"Do not say, 'We have found wisdom; God will rout him, not man.'
Job has not directed his words to me, and so I will not reply to him with your arguments. 14"For he has not arranged his words against me, Nor will I reply to him with your arguments.
"They are dismayed and cannot answer any more; they have nothing left to say. 15"They are dismayed, they no longer answer; Words have failed them.
And I have waited. But because they do not speak, because they stand there and answer no more, 16"Shall I wait, because they do not speak, Because they stop and no longer answer?
I too will answer my part, I too will explain what I know. 17"I too will answer my share, I also will tell my opinion.
For I am full of words, and the spirit within me constrains me. 18"For I am full of words; The spirit within me constrains me.
Inside I am like wine which has no outlet, like new wineskins ready to burst! 19"Behold, my belly is like unvented wine, Like new wineskins it is about to burst.
I will speak, so that I may find relief; I will open my lips, so that I may answer. 20"Let me speak that I may get relief; Let me open my lips and answer.
I will not show partiality to anyone, nor will I confer a title on any man. 21"Let me now be partial to no one, Nor flatter any man.
for I do not know how to give honorary titles, if I did, my Creator would quickly do away with me. 22"For I do not know how to flatter, Else my Maker would soon take me away.
