For this reason we do not fear when the earth shakes, and the mountains tumble into the depths of the sea, 2Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
when its waves crash and foam, and the mountains shake before the surging sea. (Selah) 3Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah.
The river's channels bring joy to the city of God, the special, holy dwelling place of the sovereign One. 4There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High.
God lives within it, it cannot be moved. God rescues it at the break of dawn. 5God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms are overthrown. God gives a shout, the earth dissolves. 6The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His voice, the earth melted.
The LORD who commands armies is on our side! The God of Jacob is our protector! (Selah) 7The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.
Come! Witness the exploits of the LORD, who brings devastation to the earth! 8Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has wrought desolations in the earth.
He brings an end to wars throughout the earth; he shatters the bow and breaks the spear; he burns the shields with fire. 9He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariots with fire.
He says, "Stop your striving and recognize that I am God! I will be exalted over the nations! I will be exalted over the earth!" 10"Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
The LORD who commands armies is on our side! The God of Jacob is our protector! (Selah) 11The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.
