New International VersionBerean Study Bible
For the director of music. To the tune of "Do Not Destroy." Of David. A miktam. When he had fled from Saul into the cave. Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.1For the choirmaster. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A Miktam of David, when he fled from Saul into the cave. Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy, for in You my soul takes refuge. In the shadow of Your wings I will take shelter until the danger has passed.
I cry out to God Most High, to God, who vindicates me.2I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me.
He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me-- God sends forth his love and his faithfulness.3He reaches down from heaven and saves me; He rebukes those who trample me. Selah God sends forth His loving devotion and His truth.
I am in the midst of lions; I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts-- men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.4My soul is among the lions; I lie down with ravenous beasts—with men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.5Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; may Your glory cover all the earth.
They spread a net for my feet-- I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path-- but they have fallen into it themselves.6They spread a net for my feet; my soul was despondent. They dug a pit before me, but they themselves have fallen into it! Selah
My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.7My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast. I will sing and make music.
Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.8Awake, my glory! Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.9I will praise You, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing Your praises among the peoples.
For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.10For Your loving devotion reaches to the heavens, and Your faithfulness to the clouds.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.11Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; may Your glory cover all the earth.
