New International VersionChristian Standard Bible
Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:1Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:
"Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven.2Dominion and dread belong to him, the one who establishes harmony in his heights.
Can his forces be numbered? On whom does his light not rise?3Can his troops be numbered? Does his light not shine on everyone?
How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?4How can a human be justified before God? How can one born of woman be pure?
If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes,5If even the moon does not shine and the stars are not pure in his sight,
how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot-- a human being, who is only a worm!"6how much less a human, who is a maggot, a son of man, who is a worm!
